FSNKLVR x Cole Haan Lunargrand

Originally released in suede, the new drop couples a classic leather wingtip upper with the comfort of Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning. Exclusive to Cole Haan and a few online retail stores, the shoe was made available in five suede colorways and combines the very traditional wingtip brogue with Nike’s Lunar running sole for an awesome hybrid that not only looks fashionable, but feels great to wear. Priced at $248, stock is pretty much going, going, gone for this release but look out for a full grain leather release in the next few weeks which promises to look amazing as well.

Jogging on a road of marshmallows may elicit images of extreme comfort but one would need the right system in place to avoid getting mired in a sticky mess.

Enter Lunarlon cushioning, which lies at the heart of Nike’s Dynamic Support system and is engineered to guide runners down just such a pillowed pathway.

Nike developed Lunarlon cushioning by studying images of astronauts bounding across the surface of the moon, “as if on marshmallows” – exactly the ultra-cushioned image that Nike wanted to evoke.

The Lunarlon sole as being 30% lighter than Nike’s standard Phylon foam and embedded the lightweight cushion in a firmer Phylon or Phylite foam carrier. This dual-density construction helped to balance dissipation of impact forces with stability.

Cole Haan isn’t usually a brand that attracts hype. They’ve been making high quality footwear and accessories since way back in the 1920’s. In the late 1980’s, Nike acquired the brand and in recent years Cole Haan has placed increasing emphasis on their unique fusion with Nike sports technology. Released on February 10th, Cole Haan’s latest arrival is the LunarGrand Wingtip shoe. The shoe first showed up some months ago in Sneaker Freaker Magazine and has been drawing huge crowds.
